Junior Tax Accountant (Entry-Level)

About the Role

As a Junior Tax Accountant, you will work alongside experienced professionals to support tax preparation, financial reporting, and client service. This is an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in tax and accounting while developing practical skills in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses.

  • Gather and organize client documentation for tax preparation and financial reporting.

  • Support tax planning efforts and identify potential tax-saving opportunities under supervision.

  • Communicate with clients to request information and help address basic questions.

  • Assist in preparing financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets.

  • Maintain accurate and organized client records.

  • Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines during busy tax seasons.

  • Learn and apply current tax laws and regulations with guidance from senior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field (or expected graduation within the next 6 months).

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and tax concepts.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with QuickBooks is a plus but not required.

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

  • Good organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong communication skills and a client-service mindset.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field (required or in progress).

  • Interest in pursuing CPA license is encouraged.

Employment Type: Exempt. Full Time/Permanent.

Working Conditions: This position is onsite at 1803 Research Blvd, Suite 103, Rockville, MD 20850. Work hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm (unless otherwise approved by leadership), including lunch.

Physical Requirements: Office environment. This role requires extended periods of sitting and working at a computer. Must be able to effectively communicate with clients and team members verbally and in writing. Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, up to 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
