Junior Tax Accountant (Entry-Level)

About the Role
As a Junior Tax Accountant, you will work alongside experienced professionals to support tax preparation, financial reporting, and client service. This is an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in tax and accounting while developing practical skills in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses.
Gather and organize client documentation for tax preparation and financial reporting.
Support tax planning efforts and identify potential tax-saving opportunities under supervision.
Communicate with clients to request information and help address basic questions.
Assist in preparing financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets.
Maintain accurate and organized client records.
Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines during busy tax seasons.
Learn and apply current tax laws and regulations with guidance from senior staff.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field (or expected graduation within the next 6 months).
Basic understanding of accounting principles and tax concepts.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with QuickBooks is a plus but not required.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Strong communication skills and a client-service mindset.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field (required or in progress).
Interest in pursuing CPA license is encouraged.

Employment Type: Exempt. Full Time/Permanent.
Working Conditions: This position is onsite at 1803 Research Blvd, Suite 103, Rockville, MD 20850. Work hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm (unless otherwise approved by leadership), including lunch.
Physical Requirements: Office environment. This role requires extended periods of sitting and working at a computer. Must be able to effectively communicate with clients and team members verbally and in writing. Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, up to 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
